Does my child have to attend Rehoboth Schools to play?
No. RYB is open to all players from K through grade 8 who reside in Rehoboth.
When do registrations open and how will I know?
Registrations open in late September. An email announcement is sent to returning players and flyers are sent to Palmer River Elementary School and Beckwith Middle School for circulation. We also announce that registrations are open through other youth sports organizations in Rehoboth and social media.
When does the season start?
Evaluations for players in grades 1-8 takes p
lace in mid November. Teams are formed immediately following evaluations and team announcements, practice nights, and game schedules are released the weekend after Thanksgiving. The season begins the week after Thanksgiving.
When does the season end?
Assuming the weather cooperates in NEW ENGLAND, the last regular season game will be the Saturday leading into February vacation week. However, if weather causes cancellations the season could be pushed into early March.
Are there basketball activities during Christmas break and February vacation?
No, when the schools go on break, so does RYB.
Are there basketball activities on half days or professional development days when the kids have no school?
Depends on whether the schools will allow us to use the gyms. This is usually determined on a case by case basis and announced via email.
What nights will practice be on?
Depends on coaching availability. The practice schedule is released after Thanksgiving. Mapping out the practice schedule takes time as league organizers are working with over 50 volunteer coaches to coordinate availability while also factoring in limited gym availability. If you have conflicts with your player's team practice schedule, you can request a change. Change requests are evaluated on a case by case basis but we will make an effort to accommodate the request. If league cannot accommodate your request for a schedule change you may withdraw and receive a full refund.
